The jury have reached their verdict in the case against John Cort and Brian Farrell for the murder of his business partner Vina Patel.
Both John Cort and Brian Farrell have been found guilty today of the murder of Vina Patel.

Today I got my very first, file of my own! It feels weird now that I have my own file, but it’s a good weird.
It’s different as I haven’t had to deal with my own caseload at previous places; most of the time it’s having to look after files and not be the main fee earner. But that’s all changed now 
I will still be helping others with their files but I will slowly be given a bigger caseload later down the line. It’s progress and I’m not complaining, that is all
Yes folks it has already been a month since I have been working at the new job. I can’t believe how quickly time flies when you’re working!
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it but the work done here is solely conveyancing, which I don’t mind, for now. To be honest I can’t see myself here forever, but who knows what the future holds. It is great volume case handling experience, which is extremely important in the legal profession.
I have never had to personally go through the whole property purchase process but my god has this role put me off. Estate Agents are a total nightmare and constantly chasing us up, when there is nothing to update. Worst time of all is end of the month, so they can hit their targets and get their bonuses lol.
It has been good so far, minus a few issues but good nevertheless. I will be trained up on even more procedures so I can eventually have my own case load of annoying clients. Kidding!!
In the mean time I am enjoying my job and taking it easy, it has been ages since I haven’t had to worry about applying for a job and finding a job asap. So I may as well enjoy the job and my current situation to the fullest. I am however keeping an eye out every now and then for other roles that I can apply for. I don’t want to stop applying and would ideally like to keep my options open
6 months ago I decided I needed a plan to sort my career side of things out.
Well the 6 months are over.
Following the sequence I did for the original post
1. I am not in the same position as I was in 6 months ago
2. I have a paid legal job
3. I have cut down my contract at my weekend job, I only work Saturday’s now. The legal role I have is temporary to permanent so for now, I feel this is the best position for me.
4. Once I start getting paid I am saving, I have way too much to look forward to this year.
5. I am actually studying Intermediate Spanish now. First assignment is due soon, eek!
I can’t beleive my plan has worked. 6 months can definitely make a difference. I feel ten times more positive now that I have more experience and can use this to my advantage. I am still not quite on the trainee solicitor map as yet, but its a start. Things can only get better 
I can’t believe it, my first week at the new job is already over.
I have learnt quite a bit about the processes as well as the company I work for during this week.
The work here is conveyancing only, and the work I do is admin related for now but then moving into being a case handler.
The firm, so to say, deals with coveyancing in volume and I mean volume. The team I have joined is really nice, we all get along quite well and I’m glad I can always ask someone for help when I need it. I hope it stays this way!
And android, I feel your pain about filing. So so boring but you have to do it I guess
This week just gone by has been possibly the most longest week of my life, so far.
I started the week off with a great job in another city and by midweek I had another job offer elsewhere. The first job offer, which I accepted and went to for a few days, was just what I had been looking for. It was a great corporate firm and the role was a caseworker/paralegal role. The only problem I had was the commute. It would take roughly 2 hours in the morning and evening to commute. I went for a few days and I came to realise that I may not be able to do the journey all the time, especially if I needed to take work home with me. For the days that I went, I ended up coming home and wanting to go sleep and nothing else.
This week marks a full month since I have been at home and law jobless.
It hasn’t been good to say the least but I have taken a very pro-active approach to job hunting and everything in general. If I don’t apply, I won’t get.
I have applied to so many jobs and have had great feedback. The one thing that is missing is experience, eventhough I have over a years worth of experience in a variety of law firms ranging from general high street practices to the big corporate law firm.
Those who are still job hunting like me will understand the frustration but I guess we have to stay positive and keep a positive attitude. I have had super bad days followed by good days. We just have to keep at it and not lose concentration on what we want at the end of it all.
This week has been so tiring. I am shattered!
The travel would have to be the worst part of it. Thankfully I have had travis the trout and other Twitter friends to keep me entertained in the mornings.
Work wise this week has been amazing. I have learnt so much from such a big firm. I can’t express how grateful I am to my good mate for fulfilling his promise of getting me work experience at this firm. He definitely knows this but thank you once again homeboy! I also had the opportunity of meeting some really nice and genuine people.
So now the job applications resume. Wish me luck!

Today was my last day at the law firm. It all ended on a great note. I have learnt loads which will help me in my future career, so I am very thankful for that.
Now what do I do? Well I have all next week to impress at another law firm. It will be a tiring week as I have to be up at 5.30 am to get the bus at 6.30am and then the train at 7.30am. This is nothing on travis the trout‘s journey but it will definitely be shattering for me.
After that I have nothing planned at all. Apart from making as many applications as possible to anything and everything law related. I really do hope something is successful and sooner rather than later.
Also you may have noticed that certain posts have been deleted. I was politely asked to remove offending posts and I felt obliged to do so.
Well I stuck to my word, I actually made speculative applications to law firms within the surrounding areas. This day off will not be wasted! I have also ensured that applications via agencies are still in tact. From now on every evening after work I will be making job applications. Like I said, this is MY year to shine
I needed to do this so I can finally finally progress within the legal profession. I needed to be more pro-active rather than just ignore the fact that I wasn’t getting anywhere. With the experience that I have, I’m certain something will come up, it has to right?!
Well I’ve done it, so now how long do I have to wait til I get a response or get no response as usual :S
