I like using Twitter, a lot. I am a Twitter addict, but the 'friends' I have made on there are really nice, and I'd like to think the followers I have are pretty fabulous too! But it's definitely very different. Facebook is closed in, private, to protect all your information which you have up on there. It's for your friends only. Twitter is very open, and holds no private information, so allows people to e-network more easily without worrying about any access they may have to your family photos or where you study.
