I get light headed immediately after drinking the filtered water!  The light headedness doesn’t last more than a second or two and it’s only while the water is in my mouth.

I can’t think why or how this is possible but it is definitely true.  I noticed it after using the filtered kettle, but then just assumed it was a strange feeling ‘because the water was so pure’ – how naive!  I’ve never mentioned it before because let’s face it, it doesn’t exactly sound normal and most people would dismiss it straight away.

But now I am curious as to why!  I know it isn’t just a reaction to cold water, because I have the same reaction with the water from the kettle too.  I drink cold bottled water all the time, as well as cold tap water too.  There is definitely something going on in those filters that causes this.  There must be a real reason it happens..  I know how weird it must be sounding to someone who this has never happened to – but it happens every time I drink from the filter systems like the one pictured.

Anyone else have a similar reaction?  Anyone actually been to a doctor about it to get a real answer?

I found this post on a forum going back to 2007..  Looks like I am not alone, but there doesn’t seem to be much fact about why it happens.

There were many ‘reasons’ given for why iPhone 3G performed so poorly when using iOS 4.  Some people were led to believe that the Spotlight Search indexing was probably the biggest culprit, but it appears that it may not have been the case.

Hopefully this will be the fix I’ve been hoping for!

I came home to a letter from Wescot DEBT COLLECTORS saying I have an outstanding debt with Sky from when I moved out..  Yikes!  I seriously thought that after moving, the account was done and dusted so that was an unpleasant surprise.

Scary stuff..

The week felt pretty long and miserable..  Partially because work was so ridiculously busy!  The gossip for the week was when someone got sacked for unknown reasons.  Nothing interesting happens in my office, so when this happened, it got people whispering.  Everyone was thinking of possible reasons for the sacking and making judgements about certain members of the management team.  Hmm.

I helped organise a little night out with some of the new staff, to try and get to know them outside of work.  I am nice like that you see.  Lots of fun to be had!  I managed to get my debit card swallowed by a cash machine in the middle of the night!  Dammit!  Good job I had another bank card with me, or that would have ruined me.

Rock City.. Not my usual night out, but it wasn't bad for a Thursday!

Friday at work was a nightmare.  I had hardly any sleep and felt awful!  So, I had to hydrate myself somehow eh?

I was sick at work!!  I managed to do it in the toilet though and without anyone really noticing so I am not in trouble for it!!  Friday night after work I headed straight to my friend’s house for pizza, cards and Jack Daniels.  I really don’t remember who won the games, but let’s just say that I did since I’m writing this

At one point in life, I used to go out every Sunday when it was a Bank Holiday weekend.  They always used to be the best nights out and it seemed everyone was out having a good time.  I don’t know what happened to that theme, but the weekends just don’t seem as good as they used to be.  People seem to go out ‘just because it’s the weekend’ rather than gearing up for a ‘special’ Bank Holiday weekend.  There is a difference, seriously.  Well I did go out and as with tradition, spent more than I should have..

Since my old one was going to expire January 2011, I’ve got mine renewed (applied and got a new one) now until August 2012.  Why?  Well there have been some changes to the fee (which is currently FREE), meaning that from next month (September 2010) we will need to pay for it.  The fee will be $14 which is approximately £9 at current rates.  Not a lot(?), but for a simple application form which you can do in less than 5 minutes, you may as well put off paying for another 2 years eh?

The fee is being levied for all passengers using the compulsory online pre-approval scheme that is replacing green I-94W visa waiver forms.

Prospective visitors must pay a $14 (£9) fee from Sept 8, which officials said would go to a fund to promote tourism.

Air travellers to the United States already pay a slew of minor charges which are included in their ticket price, such as US customs user fee of approximately $2.70 (£1.70), a US immigration fee of approximately $3.50 (£2) and a US animal and plant health inspection services user fee of about $2.50 (£1.50). If you already have one of the visas, then you will need to re-apply for a new one in order to get it extended.  I believe any new applications supersede the old ones.

Well, that was a heat of the moment thing which I am sure is easily done at any work place.  We all do things we wish we didn’t when looking back at it.  It’s just unfortunate, this one was on live television!

How was your day at work?

I went round a friend’s house on Saturday night for a catch up and a few drinks which was fun. I walked there and back (40 minutes each way!) which is totally unlike me because I hate walking. I like to drive most places. 1 because it’s quicker and 2 so I don’t have to rely on public transport or taxis, I really dislike them!

The worst thing I have ever seen happened while I was walking back home. I saw a cat get run over. It was so so awful to witness! I heard the crushing sound under the car and saw the bloo-  Let’s just say it wasn’t a pretty sight. I instantly felt sick and didn’t exactly sleep all too well when I got in.  The sound and the image just wouldn’t leave my head!

Apart from that horror, I think I seriously need to walk more places.  Obviously seeing the cat die wasn’t my best walking experience but, just generally I need to walk more.  Don’t get me wrong, I love to exercise – in the gym, at a sports field / track..  But I really hate walking.

It seems that I drive a little too much and it’s made me very lazy. I only ever walk to or from my car. *I find* public transport in Nottingham to be pretty grim! The buses generally are unreliable and the fare seems so pricey for something that is supposed to be encouraging people not to drive. Currently a single ticket costs £1.60 and an all day return ticket £3.20. When I look at that and consider standing at a bus stop waiting, or looking at the bus that I’ve just missed in the distance, or trying not to say anything to the tramp that insists on spitting everywhere – I choose my car every time. Most times I choose walking over public transport. I won’t even bother starting on taxis. They are a last resort. Call it paranoia.  Wow, sidetracked a little there!

Anyway, on Sunday I went to the Nottingham Contemporary for the first time. I thought it was pretty good there. Saw some photographic artwork by Diane Arbus and some huge paintings by Gert and Uwe Tobias.

I realised that with my lack of walking places, I hadn’t been to the city centre during the day time all summer! They turned Market Square into a beach ‘resort’ with lots of random seaside attractions. Looked cool, although I wasn’t particularly interested enough to get involved with the urban beach ‘fun’!  For some reason, my iPhone photos (below) are getting worse and worse as the phone gets older (is that possible?).  Damn, maybe it is really time to upgrade!
