Who, what, where, when, why and how?
These are the common questions we hear every day in any language.
- だれ - Who?
- なに or なん - What?
- どこ - Where?
- いつ - When?
- なんで - Why?
- どう - How?
Remembering in Japanese the words will not be pronounced as one unit, but rather as separate syllables. E.g - だれ (Dare), will not be pronounced as in the English ‘I didn’t dare‘ but will be pronounced as ‘da’ ‘re’. Remembering how Japanese ‘R’ is pronounced.

Ok, so below is the complete (basic) Hiragana table. You can use this basic structure to put together a lot of basic sentenses and words.

You may remember me mentioning that once per week I will be putting up a little Japanese that I have learnt so far?
Well, I will be doing this once per week. A snippet of Japanese that I have learnt at my own pace. Some will be lengthy and in detail, depending how much I have to share, some will be small just to get the hang of something.
This is my first taste of Japanese. I would recommend this text book to help out if you are thinking of learning some as well. I am using it and I think its really useful!
The ‘basics’
Some important things to know about Japanese is that there are 4 main sets of characters in use most of the time. They are called Hiragana, Katakana, Romaji and Kanji. Sound a little complicated yes? Well, they aren’t as bad as they might sound.

Learning Japanese - At My Pace
I have finally figured out how to display Japanese characters on this site! After lots of hours of tweaking and adjusting whilst trying not to completely destroy the site, I think I have made it possible!
This can only mean one thing
I will be ‘learning Japanese’ and using this site as my exercise book to make all my notes and track what I am getting up to. The reason I say ‘learning Japanese’ is because I am not going to dive in and be all intense (just yet), so I will be learning at my own pace. So quite possibly slower than you if you were learning a language.
