Locksley got an iPhone 3G
Just to let you know, after joining the queue at 07.00 I managed to get an iPhone and be one of the ‘lucky’ few (depending how you look at it) to get the first batch!
I hear they sold out within an hour of me getting mine so good job I didn’t snooze!!
I will update this post with some more info later on after I have a little play with my new gadget!

The wait
After having some time to have a play with my new toy, I can confirm that the iPhone is an amazing phone. Firstly I want to talk about O2 and their ridiculous handling of the iPhone hype! They did an awful job of managing the mass of people trying to get the phone and took so long to process each transaction it was just unreal!
I was inside the shop not long after it opened yet it still took me almost an hour to get my contract processed and I am already with O2 anyway! Ridiculous! Within no time at all people were leaving the shop empty handed, either because of failing the credit checks or the phone being out of stock! That brings me nicely on to my next point, the poor stock levels! Each store had ‘a few dozen’ of the devices which is terrible considering there were at least 30 people behind me whilst I was in the line and I wasn’t even at the front!
They sold out of the 16GB model just as I was next to sign my contract which was not nice.

iPhone 3G SOLD OUT
Within an hour of going on the O2 website for pre-orders, the phone had sold out in the UK! - Crashing the O2 site in it’s wake!
Over 200,000 eager people (including myself) hammered the O2 website on Monday to try and secure their shiny new order for the iPhone
! Only O2 will know how many were successful though, as many people are saying it was a huge marketing ploy from the network provider to generate hype for the official launch on friday.
This could quite possibly be true, since it’s what Nintendo had done with their DS hand held console . They generated so much ‘out of stock’ hype that demand for the little gadget soared and they seemed impossible to get for months!
Will I be one of the sad folks queuing outside the shop to get an iPhone? I’d have to say…

Teeth
The second thing you will probably notice after the face. Some people like theirs, some people really don’t.
Personally, I think mine could be better but I know they aren’t too bad really since I have never needed any work on them - not even a filling. Since the boom of the Hollywood smile though, everyone should be having another look at their teeth a little closer.
I see many people every day with mouths looking so filthy, I wonder if they’ve just snacked on a plant pot or been slurping on oil.
Folks, it is NOT normal to have teeth looking like the ones in the photo! I think if you would be embarrassed to smile showing your teeth then you have a problem and need to go to your dentist to get it fixed.
Fair enough, some people’s teeth are naturally not straight which can lead to issues with wanting to put them on show. I think this is fine as long as they are still clean. I know my own teeth are nothing to brag about, but the one thing I do know is that they are clean.
Three things that could easily put me off wanting to speak to someone would be - terribly bad teeth like the ones above, severe obesity and body odour!
If you are easily put off, do not look any further as the following pictures could make you sick!

Child labour
Ever wondered how it was possible to get clothes so cheap?
Well, imagine a world where we employed ‘things’ to do all the work for us and we didn’t have to pay them.. So any money we made from selling what they made would be profit. Sounds like money in the bank accounts of some lucky people with a business plan like that!
Well, harsh reality check. This really does happen.. Apart from the ‘things’ are children and they get paid peanuts. Probably literally peanuts too!
This sick practice goes on all over the world and as we seek lower prices, the market for it gets bigger and bigger. Whenever we look at our clothing labels and see that they are made in other countries, how can we be sure that a child wasn’t tasked with making it in a few hours? How do we know that a child hasn’t been kidnapped and sold to a factory to make that football, or to pick those apples, or to mould your iPod
The fact is, we don’t.

Gym and dieting
Some people ask ‘why do you go to the gym?’ I feel like saying ‘no, why is it you don’t go to the gym?’
We are far from our cave man days where everything we did involved some physical work. These days we get our food from shops, so it’s already been picked from the trees, slaughtered at the farms etc.. We didn’t have to drag it miles to take it home, we didn’t spend time bashing rock together to make the fire to cook it on.. So basically all the physical things we used to do are obsolete.
Unless you play a sport, or have a manual labour intensive job there is very little exercise left to be done in our every day lives really.. I don’t call walking to and from the car, or walking round a shop exercise. We eat so much junk without even realising it and yet we exercise so little. So it’s no wonder we as a population are getting fatter.
So, why do you ask me to justify going to exercise a little?

Bienvenidos a Miami
You may have heard me saying how I am going to go to Japan at some point? Well, sadly it’s not going to be this year..
But all is not lost. No sir!
I will be venturing to Miami Beach on 28th July which, I am sure will prove to be one to remember! I have seen many films and TV shows filmed in Miami so I know it’s glamorous. The weather in August according to some weather sites is making Miami look like a scorcher! Average temperatures of around 30° and constant sunshine can’t be bad!
Ok, so we do sometimes get that heat here in the UK but it isn’t very reliable. For example, we might get a week where it starts out colder than expected, rains for the next three days, calms down for day 5, then knocks out a scorching day when people least expect it on day 6. Then after having that unexpected day, we all wear less the next day thinking we might have the same again.. Nope, the week ends with a storm then the cycle continues throughout the British summer.
Well, I have decided if I am going to go to Miami with all the beach and sand, I need to have myself a beach body. So, I shall be ditching the chocolates at break times and replacing that with a healthier alternative. Maybe an apple? Maybe fruit juice and a sandwich? I have no idea, but it is completely necessary to do this.
Why?

Life of brands
Everyone has a routine right? Wake up at x, eat x for breakfast, go to work etc..
Well, how much attention do we all pay to how much brands are taking over our lives? They just slot into our lives so easily without much attention being paid to them. Here is my attempt to capture as many brands that I might personally use on a typical Friday (usually one of my busiest days)..

Sony Ericsson C905 8 Megapixel
Talk about raising the bar!
After going on about wanting a new iPhone (which I will still get anyway), Sony Ericsson folks have gone and crushed all the other phones out there with one blow!
Imagine 8 megapixels, xenon flash, high speed 3G, walkman and a phone all in one. Sound good? Well it is good! If only there was some kind of collaboration with SE and Apple right now then I would be able to get the perfect phone.

iPhone 2 confirmed
You have probably already heard the announcement of the new iPhone? Well, it’s nearly here. On 11 July 2008 at a time currently unknown to me stores around the world will simultaneously release the new iPhone for all of us to play with. Lets face it, thats the reason you get an iPhone right? To play with? not to make phone calls surely?
After some time to think about it, I have decided I will be joining the mass of people outside my nearest o2 store waiting to get my hands on the gadget!

Chavs
I hope if you are reading this that you are indeed not a chav. Every time I get on public transport I see them, which is part of my reason for preferring to drive everywhere that it is possible to.
Is it offensive to label someone as a chav? I imagine so. I’d definitely be offended if someone were to label me a chav, but what about the people who fit the definition and behave according to the definition? Do they like being called chavs? Well, there is no interview with a chav to follow - just me having a rant..
What is a chav? Well, firstly lets consult Wikipedia as you do.. Wiki says..
Chav (pronounced /ʧæv/) also Charv/Charver (pronounced /ʧɑːv/) are mainly derogatory slang terms in the United Kingdom for a stereotype fixated on low quality or counterfeit goods. It commonly refers to those belonging to a youth sub-culture, often stereotypically associated with a low socio-economic class, a striking dress sense and criminal activity.

Fat people vs Skinny people
Ever wondered how they do it?
Well, which do you associate more with? Fat, or skinny? Ever wondered how the other goes about their daily life? How did they get so fat? How did they get so skinny?
Some people eat lots and don’t exercise at all and remain slim.. Some do the opposite and still remain fat. How? It’s one of those mysteries that I personally don’t think I know the answer to.

Holidays 2008
Can you believe it’s already June?! well I am having a hard time believing that fact! Mainly because I haven’t got any holidays planned to look forward to!
Ok, that is a lie.. I am going to Prague for 3 days in October, but that is a long way away and it is only 3 days! I need a summer vacation! 2 weeks please! Yes please! Any suggestions?
Where is there to go outside of UK that I haven’t been? (apart from the whole entire world, haha).
USA is a new idea that has been mentioned recently. I think it would be ACE! just need it to be confirmed then I can chill out and have something to look forward to at long last! I think I deserve a holiday!

Hay Fever
This is the first year in my life that I have had the symptoms of hay fever! I am still coming to terms that maybe I am not immune to the allergy that has plagued the rest of my family for years!
Can you really just ‘develop’ hay fever allergy? I just don’t understand how I have never had anything more than a bit of a cold but yet now it seems like I have the itchy eyes and the sneezing fits too!
Maybe that lady in the picture above has taken things a little far to sort out a runny nose, but I can totally relate to why she’d have done it!
Well, I am determined not to use any pills or other medication to try and get over it so I will fight it myself!

Julian Beever’s drawings are amazing
I thought that by now everyone had seen these pictures.. They seem to have done the rounds many times through the work email forwards.. But it seems that some people are still only just discovering this, so I thought I’d share!
Julian Beever is the name of the man who draws all of these pictures on concrete with chalk! When I saw them for the first time, I thought the images had been computerised and added into the photos but I later found out they were real drawings!
Amazing or what?!
