Online TV at last
How ironic is it that now corporations such as the BBC are moving to let people watch all their programmes online! After all the fuss previously when sites such as peekvid, projectfreetv and ovguide were all offering the same, if not more of this content but were being shut down or had threats to be shut down.
TV shows have been online for years now, even in the ‘old’ days where YouTube was the only source of online content. I remember browsing through watching episodes of The Simpsons in 10 parts on YouTube. What an effort that was, finding the clips and hoping you could actually watch them before YouTube police took them off for copyright infringement!
These days, if anyone asked me to watch something online in any more than 2 parts, I’d laugh! There are endless sites now offering legal (and illegal) crystal clear streams of Television. The best site I ever saw for clear online video was Stage6.com which sadly had to be closed down due to increasing cost for storing all their content.
Where do you watch online TV?
Here in the UK all the major TV channels / organisations are moving to free to watch television shows and it is not restricted in any way either! Lets see there is BBC iPlayer, Sky’s Skyplayer (sound similar eh?), ITV Catchup, Channel 4oD (4 On Demand).. Probably more too, but those are just some of the big ones that come to mind.
I wonder if music companies will ever latch on to this trend of ‘free’ content.. Free music albums, singles, concert videos etc.. I very much doubt it will! Can’t imagine any of these celebrity singers / rappers saying ’sure, just download it for free, I don’t need the money’.

To be honest, it was bound to happen sooner or later with regards to watching TV online. It’s much more convenient now as if u miss ur favourite programme on certain channels, u can watch it at ur convenience online.
However the down sides are that those that r restricted to a maximum of a certain amount of ‘downloading’ per month with their isp may find it harder to watch as u watch while it is streamed or technically ‘downloaded’. It may just stop u from watchin it. Also BBC only keep their episodes online for 7 days maximum whereas ITV is a lot more generous and have theirs up for much longer. Still its good that they finally are keeping with the times….I think ABC has had their service running for a long time in the US. As u say there are still loads of sites that u can watch new episodes of lost or any of the major series’s on. I would tell u but then i’d have 2 kill u lol.
With regards to the music…coldplay have offered some of their new tracks free online…and so has radiohead, but that was their whole album. The trend seems to be going towards ‘free’ but not quite as free as we would want lol.
