The most expensive movie EVER made at a whopping cost of (approximately) $300m – $500m!  From the director of Aliens, Terminator 2, True Lies and Titanic, this is set to be an AWESOME 3D movie.

Despite what the trailer below says, I am watching this tonight and will edit this post below with my official verdict on this 161 minute long epic!

The film has caused a lot of controversy surrounding this film though, with some critics calling it a ‘pompous, droning, self-aggrandising‘ movie.. – wow..  Well, I think maybe it’s about time ‘they’ spent this kind of money to drill it into people’s heads..  But what do I know hey?

I think the fact that the director of the ‘highest grossing movie of all-time’ is involved is a selling point alone.  So, on to the cinema I go.  I shall spend yet another £1.50 on some more 3D glasses.  Despite having some left over from previous films, I know they like to rip us off by making us buy more.  Tut tut.  Well, it’ll hopefully be worthwhile!

Summary:

When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge’s intentions of driving off the native humanoid “Na’vi” in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na’vi people with the use of an “avatar” identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand – and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

How can you not be interested after seeing this trailer Bonsebalm?

I will add my own review somewhere after this once I have seen it!  If you’ve seen it already, what did you think?

OK so I have now seen this movie..

My mistake.  It was £2.30 extra to see it in 3D.  despite being a ‘pay monthly’ customer.  Disappointed with Cineworld for that..  The excuse was “we’ve not long spent £15 million to upgrade and make the cinemas capable to show 3D”.  Pah!

The movie was AWESOME!!!!!  I am not sure about the cost to make it, but it was well worth the 161 minutes (+ trailers and adverts) of my life!  Excellent!

A political film perhaps though?  I thought there were subtle references to what is going on in the world today.. like the rich tricking the poor into selling their valuable resources.  Maybe a movie about the oil crisis?  I thought the story could relate to so many things but yet it didn’t distract you from the movie.  I thought about it in more (maybe too much) detail on the way out of the cinema..  So definitely worth a watch, if you don’t want to think any deeper on the way out then you don’t have to – but I’m sure you’d agree that was the intention of the director.

What did you think?

I really liked it! The colours were so pretty lol, and all the people in blue!! The story was really good too, I was expecting a bad story line but it was really good!! Watching it in 3D was good, don't think I could watch it in 2D. Had to pay for the glasses but we don't get to keep them!!
