So, where is Nottingham anyway? I hear you ask.. Here you will find a map.
The city is approximately 127 miles north of London for those of you who still have no idea where it is.
Nottingham is a vibrant developing city in the heart of the UK. It has direct links to all the other major cities in the UK including London, Birmingham and Manchester. The city is currently going through a great deal of major redevelopment. The Old Market Square (a large open space in the city centre surrounded by shops and bars) has been completely transformed into a modern work of art. It was already the focal point of the city centre and when completed boosted the already astounding architecture of Nottingham. There are also major works going on around the city centre, including the introduction of a few complexes with student accommodation for hundreds of students as well as new restaurants and shops to add to the city’s already thriving social scene! (Read more to see photos below).
The re-introduction of The Tram has changed the lives of many. Now there is a whole route of new shops and services located along the whole length of The Tram line that may have been previously unnoticed. It has boosted the city’s economical development. Now there are many multi-national companies that are queuing up to get premises in the city! Companies already established are Experian, Capital One and Powergen to name a few. Tourism and investment from both the USA and the Far East is also adding to Nottingham’s diversity and culture as well as providing great economic benefits.
Nottingham is the fastest growing city in England and the second fastest in the UK (behind Glasgow) – apparently. There seems to be no end to the amount of student accommodation, shops, bars and restaurants under construction at any given time.
Famous attractions include Boots, The Goose Fair, Nottingham Caves, Nottingham Castle, Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood, The Theatre Royal, Nottingham Playhouse, Royal Concert Hall, National Ice Centre and not to forget the oldest pub in the world (a claim that has been open to much debate)!
Other attractions are the thriving nightlife, the vast amount of high street shops to suit all tastes. The city is in among the top in the UK for its variety of shops and nightlife outside of London. Nottingham is very student friendly, with 2 universities with a combined The University of Nottingham not to forget Nottingham Trent University as well!.
