This was possibly the first book I can remember reading! I don’t quite know what it was with this one but I absolutely loved it! I can remember hiding it round the back of a bookshelf in my classroom just so that no one else could read it (pretty sad I know). So, just so I can hopefully remember what all the fuss was about, I decided to actually buy it! I might actually skim through it and see if there is anything worth screaming about!
It is written by Diana Carter and was first published in 1976!! Well before my time (shh
). All I know is that there must have been something in this one that made me say wow! haha.
I know what will happen.. I will read it and have to ask myself ‘how could I have liked this so much?!’
Were there any old school books you used to read religiously or had an obsession with as a kid?

I loved Zozu The Robot too, but I can’t really remember the story. Was there something about living inside a potato?
I read it in the 70′s (old fart alert!) and it had a really weird psychedelic cover.
For some strange reason I thought about the book today for the first time in ages, this blog was the top hit in google.
Hope you don’t feel too let down if you read it again.
I can’t really remember the whole story either lol, but I have ordered it from Amazon now so when it arrives I’ll see if I can remember any of the plot
How weird!!!
Zozu The Robot just flashed into my mind and whilst I was idly browsing due to insomnia, I decided to Google like the poster up above.
I’m pretty sure that Zozu lived off potato peelings – not the potato itself but just the peelings. I may be wrong. I think I read it when I was seven and I’m 36 this year.
Mine had a different cover which was more cartoonish.
I just remembered this book. My kids are getting into reading for themselves and I wanted to find books I liked when I was a kid. I remember our teacher, Mr. Koenigsbeck reading it at school (probably abouy Year 3 in the early 80s). Can’t remember anaything about it except that I loved it.
