Life of brands

Life of brands

Everyone has a routine right?  Wake up at x, eat x for breakfast, go to work etc..
Well, how much attention do we all pay to how much brands are taking over our lives?  They just slot into our lives so easily without much attention being paid to them.  Here is my attempt to capture as [...]

Smoking Ban Really Stinks

Smoking Ban Really Stinks

When the smoking ban came into effect last July, I was looking forward to being able to go out to clubs, bars and restaurants without smelling of cigarettes.
Little did I know that the tobacco smell was actually masking the other smells that lurked in these very places.

Angelic Americans and Beastly Brits?

Angelic Americans and Beastly Brits?

Well, that is what the current situation is according to an article I read in The Times. Apparently the ladies here in the UK are ‘the greatest natural beauties in the world . . . when they’re 17 or 18 years old’! Is this true ladies? Are you only ‘worthy’ when you are 17 or [...]

Bienvenidos a Miami

Bienvenidos a Miami

You may have heard me saying how I am going to go to Japan at some point?  Well, sadly it’s not going to be this year..

But all is not lost.  No sir!

I will be venturing to Miami Beach on 28th July which, I am sure will prove to be one to remember!  I have seen many films and TV shows filmed in Miami so I know it’s glamorous.  The weather in August according to some weather sites is making Miami look like a scorcher!  Average temperatures of around 30° and constant sunshine can’t be bad!

Ok, so we do sometimes get that heat here in the UK but it isn’t very reliable.  For example, we might get a week where it starts out colder than expected, rains for the next three days, calms down for day 5, then knocks out a scorching day when people least expect it on day 6.  Then after having that unexpected day, we all wear less the next day thinking we might have the same again..  Nope, the week ends with a storm then the cycle continues throughout the British summer. :???:

Well, I have decided if I am going to go to Miami with all the beach and sand, I need to have myself a beach body.  So, I shall be ditching the chocolates at break times and replacing that with a healthier alternative.  Maybe an apple?  Maybe fruit juice and a sandwich?  I have no idea, but it is completely necessary to do this.

Why?

Sony Ericsson C905 8 Megapixel

Sony Ericsson C905 8 Megapixel

Talk about raising the bar!

After going on about wanting a new iPhone (which I will still get anyway), Sony Ericsson folks have gone and crushed all the other phones out there with one blow!

Imagine 8 megapixels, xenon flash, high speed 3G, walkman and a phone all in one.  Sound good?  Well it is good!  If only there was some kind of collaboration with SE and Apple right now then I would be able to get the perfect phone.

iPhone 2 confirmed

iPhone 2 confirmed

You have probably already heard the announcement of the new iPhone?  Well, it’s nearly here.  On 11 July 2008 at a time currently unknown to me stores around the world will simultaneously release the new iPhone for all of us to play with.  Lets face it, thats the reason you get an iPhone right?  To play with?  not to make phone calls surely?

After some time to think about it, I have decided I will be joining the mass of people outside my nearest o2 store waiting to get my hands on the gadget!

Chavs

Chavs

I hope if you are reading this that you are indeed not a chav.  Every time I get on public transport I see them, which is part of my reason for preferring to drive everywhere that it is possible to.

Is it offensive to label someone as a chav?  I imagine so.  I’d definitely be offended if someone were to label me a chav, but what about the people who fit the definition and behave according to the definition?  Do they like being called chavs?  Well, there is no interview with a chav to follow - just me having a rant..

What is a chav?  Well, firstly lets consult Wikipedia as you do..  Wiki says..

Chav (pronounced /ʧæv/) also Charv/Charver (pronounced /ʧɑːv/) are mainly derogatory slang terms in the United Kingdom for a stereotype fixated on low quality or counterfeit goods. It commonly refers to those belonging to a youth sub-culture, often stereotypically associated with a low socio-economic class, a striking dress sense and criminal activity.

Fat people vs Skinny people

Fat people vs Skinny people

Ever wondered how they do it?

Well, which do you associate more with? Fat, or skinny? Ever wondered how the other goes about their daily life? How did they get so fat? How did they get so skinny?

Some people eat lots and don’t exercise at all and remain slim.. Some do the opposite and still remain fat. How? It’s one of those mysteries that I personally don’t think I know the answer to.

Holidays 2008

Holidays 2008

Can you believe it’s already June?!  well I am having a hard time believing that fact!  Mainly because I haven’t got any holidays planned to look forward to!

Ok, that is a lie..  I am going to Prague for 3 days in October, but that is a long way away and it is only 3 days!  I need a summer vacation!  2 weeks please!  Yes please!  Any suggestions?

Where is there to go outside of UK that I haven’t been?  (apart from the whole entire world, haha).

USA is a new idea that has been mentioned recently.  I think it would be ACE!  just need it to be confirmed then I can chill out and have something to look forward to at long last!  I think I deserve a holiday!

Hay Fever

Hay Fever

This is the first year in my life that I have had the symptoms of hay fever!  I am still coming to terms that maybe I am not immune to the allergy that has plagued the rest of my family for years!

Can you really just ‘develop’ hay fever allergy? I just don’t understand how I have never had anything more than a bit of a cold but yet now it seems like I have the itchy eyes and the sneezing fits too! :???:

Maybe that lady in the picture above has taken things a little far to sort out a runny nose, but I can totally relate to why she’d have done it!

Well, I am determined not to use any pills or other medication to try and get over it so I will fight it myself!

Julian Beever’s drawings are amazing

Julian Beever's drawings are amazing

I thought that by now everyone had seen these pictures.. They seem to have done the rounds many times through the work email forwards.. But it seems that some people are still only just discovering this, so I thought I’d share!

Julian Beever is the name of the man who draws all of these pictures on concrete with chalk! When I saw them for the first time, I thought the images had been computerised and added into the photos but I later found out they were real drawings!

Amazing or what?!

Big Brother 9

Big Brother 9

Oh yes, it’s that time of year where we get to pretend we aren’t going to spend every free moment catching up on the latest goings-on from the BB house..

Ok, well all of you might not pretend but I know for a fact that a lot of you do. Why are people embarrassed for watching a TV show? What makes this sad, but Prison Break or Desperate Housewives acceptable?

Hmm.. :???:

Well, I for one am not ashamed to admit that I will probably watch most of the series.. I’m not going to rush in every night to see it, but if I happen to be sat at the TV when it is on, then the channel will be switched over to have a peek.

Well, just hours away from knowing what kind of characters we’re going to be glued to this year.. Here are some official stats as a taster of things to come…

* One housemate does stand-up comedy

* One housemate has been deported from America

* One housemate is a DJ

* One housemate is a Buddhist

* One housemate is Muslim

Clinton and Obama

Clinton and Obama

Watched the news lately?

After the news of the China earthquake and maybe a murder mystery or two, there just seems to be one story that has been in the headlines for the whole of this year so far. Who will be the next president of the USA?

The first woman president? Or, the first black president? Those are the two characteristics that seem to stand out whenever the pair are mentioned. Does that affect how they will run the country though? Surely not?

I don’t think that people should vote for Clinton just because she is a woman, the same way I don’t think people should vote for Obama just because he is black.. Yet, that is the main thing the news hypes whenever there is a report. Maybe it’s just the stories that make the news over here in the UK, the gossip obsessed public here love to hear about any controversy between people. :???:

Online TV at last

Online TV at last

How ironic is it that now corporations such as the BBC are moving to let people watch all their programmes online! After all the fuss previously when sites such as peekvid, projectfreetv and ovguide were all offering the same, if not more of this content but were being shut down or had threats to be shut down.

TV shows have been online for years now, even in the ‘old’ days where YouTube was the only source of online content. I remember browsing through watching episodes of The Simpsons in 10 parts on YouTube. What an effort that was, finding the clips and hoping you could actually watch them before YouTube police took them off for copyright infringement!

These days, if anyone asked me to watch something online in any more than 2 parts, I’d laugh! There are endless sites now offering legal (and illegal) crystal clear streams of Television. The best site I ever saw for clear online video was Stage6.com which sadly had to be closed down due to increasing cost for storing all their content.

Where do you watch online TV?

Dubstep

Dubstep

you may remember I mentioned hearing a few dubstep tracks at a house party earlier in the year.. Well, it seems dubstep is breaking out into the mainstream and getting more popular. I hear more people talking about it these days than I used to before..

One popular track I am sure you all have probably heard is Benga and Coki - Night..

There are plenty more out there too!

Not quite sure what it is I like about it, but I have a feeling it’s to do with the heavy basslines. Play these tracks through a pair of extremely large speakers for the full effect.
